Question:

Is this a brown recluse?

There is a spider in my back yard that is brown and has a light brown/tan body...the big part and it has an even lighter tan T on its back. It looks like the pictures I've seen of the brown recluse except for the T on its back and of the where they say the brown recluse is. I live in Northern California. I think I've killed it tonight but I want to make sure what it is so I know the right repellant. That's another question...what is the best spray for brown recluses and black widows? My step dad killed a whole family of black widows in my back yard last night. One of them was pretty big too.

  1. It could possibly have been a recluse.  I am a Brown recluse bite victim and have learned A LOT about them over the last few months!

Pesticides do not kill the recluse, they actually like them because it kills other insects and spiders and that's what the eat.  The most helpful site for me has been not only for the first aid kit but for cheap sticky traps which has been found as the most effective way to reduce the recluse population.
