We live in Wisconsin. My fiance picked up a clean bathroom towel and seen something black on it. He threw the towel back down and it slithered away over the side of the counter. He said it was long black and flat. He said he couldn't see any antennas, legs, or other colors. He said it was very fast and it freaked him out. I have no idea what it could be. Do you? Help!!!

  1. Sounds like a worm snake. They are very small, harmless.

My guess it is an earwig.  They are common, sometimes black, crawl under doors and I have seen them hide in towels.

  3. I live in the midwest, too, and get these creepy little guys a lot.  (Just looking at pics of them makes me shudder!)

The legs are much lighter than the body, and tend to blend in more.  I guess they're centipedes, though they look nothing like the ones I've seen in the southwest.  My nephew calls them "Ralph."  =)
