Okay, this question might seem dumb, I don't know much about bugs, but I think this is a cockroach. My parents, who I think are in denial, don't think it is. Is it? Please look at the pictures below. (I hope its not but if it is one I know there will be more!)

If not what bug is it? if it is a cockroach, how do I prevent an infestation?

Thanks!!

  1. Yup it is some sort of cockroach. cockroaches dont bite and are not so dangerous but they may carry germs.

just hit them with a broom or soemthing to kill them

and if you want to prevent infestion, keep your house clean.....places like dirty cupboard, behind friedges, or toasters, underside of  tables are the best place for cockroaches. so clean up these place regurlarly

also they go in winter and only come out in summer. so dont need to worry too much!

  2. It is a cockroach.

    Don't worry.

    I have them too.

But anyway, whenever you see one, stomp on it. Don't use spray directly on it.

To kill them, either use sticky pads (those little things that are meant for rats, they work for cockroaches too) or take bread and spray house cleaner on it. The cockroach will die instantly.

To prevent them, make surre your house is clean and keep all food in the fridge or pantry or microwve or somewhere that the roaches won't be able to see, smell, or touch it

They should go bye-bye pretty dang fast that way. Plus, they tend to not come out in the winter.

    Good luck.

  3. It may be a roach.  I can't really tell from the pictures.  Here is a site where you can see roach photos to decide.

  4. That's not a cockroach at all, it's a click beetle. Part of the family Elateridae. You can tell by the sides of the "top" part of the shell, right before they connect with the "bottom" part, the sides are pointed sort of downward. If that makes sense. That's characteristic of a click beetle. You won't have an infestation, don't worry. You may see a few here and there but just put them outside and you'll be fine. They're actually fun to play with. If you flip them upside down they make a clicking sound and spring themselves upward in hopes of landing on their feet when they come back down. I promise you it is most definitely NOT a cockroach.

  5. its either a cockroach or a mole crickey either way they are both harmless
