Question:

Is this a cool idea?

I put a small paving stone in my guinea pig cage so they have to walk on it (the feeding area) so ther claws won't get too pig. They really don't like their claws being cut so this might wear them down a bit more.

Cool or not cool?

  4. yes this is a good thing to do

  6. cool.  worth a try.

  7. ruper KOOL !!!

it should work if it doesn't get a scratching  post lol

  8. thats a good idea, nice thinking... very kewl.

  9. perhaps you could put together a little running machine with sandpaper as the movable running pad!

  10. I did the same thing with my rats. My vet actually suggested it, he said that's what he did with his squirrel.

  11. That's a great idea! I am so gonna try that!

  12. it is a good idea, and i've heard of people doing this before. it is also good in the summer if it gets hot where you live, as the stone will stay cool if in the shade, and will cool down the piggies if they lie on it.

    :)

  13. We do that with our rabbits - it's really effective. Ours is under the water bottle. Our bunnies have never tried to chew on the stone, and I doubt a guinea pig would think to either. (Possibly its more likely if you have one that looks like rice crispy treats instead of the smooth rock kind). If your guinea pig doesn't mind it and it saves them the stress of a nail clipping I think its a great idea.

  14. Very original idea, if any customers ask- I work at a pet shop- I'll suggest it. I know some owners of small dogs use it on their dogs, as it can be scary to cut dogs' nails due to the quick.

  15. I did that for my rabbit, it eally does work, you need to make sure that there is not a crack between the stone and the wall where he can get a foot stuck.
