This means to me a lot.

I lied about where I work to someone from whom I later learned that I am supposed to recieve a very important letter which needs to be mailed to my work address Only.

This is my question?

Can I file a change of address this way with the US Postal Service?

MAILS SENT TO : Tom the Liar, 1234, Microsoft Corp, WA. Zip.

TO : Tom the Liar, 4321, Humble Pie St, Anchorage, Alaska, Zip.

Thank you VERY much in advance.

  1. NO, you don't make any sense.

Could you ask this question in English?

If it's so important, why not call the company and list a change of address?

What do you do for a living? I'm fairly certain your company would prefer an individual who makes sense and I need a job.

  2. talk to the person and lie agian...not kidding say u were on some painkillers for your hand or leg or whatever..and say you were being forgetful all day...lemme no if it works

  3. Did you lie about where you work in order to receive some benefit that you would not otherwise be eligible for? Did you lie about where you work in order to secure credit, housing, or a loan?

If the answer to those questions is yes, you are guilty of fraud or deception.

Regarding the change of address form, you can file that anyway you want. However, if the letter is coming to Work Address #1 and the sender has requested address forwarding service, they will be made aware that you have changed your address to Work Address #2. This may cause them to ask some questions because established businesses don't typically change addresses unannounced.

  4. Nope, this is not a typical crime. You just lied for personal reason from someone whom later on learned that you are about to receive a letter, but lied regarding your work place.

Since this is not concerning a murderous plot then no crime is involved.

  5. Well, all I can say is that you are best off, telling the truth about where you work.

Second, when you file a change of address with the Postal Service, they do send a notice to both the old address and the new one.  I wouldn't suggest you mess with the Postal Service - it would be a serious crime if you're busted having falsified information on a change of address (or anything else you do with the P.S.)

  6. looks like a lie to me! go for it

  7. Do you work for Yahoo?

Actually, there is very little you can do other than to go to where the letter is supposed to be mailed, file a change of address there to your actual address and hope it gets to you, otherwise a remailing co. is about your only option.

Do you know anybody in that area?

You could possibly get them to pick the delivered letter up if the people who receive it will let them.

  8. Yes, I believe it would be illegal since you're furnishing false information to the government.  Whether or not you get caught is a different matter, I would think you would probably get away with it.

Can't you just tell (or pay) the secretary at that company to watch for it and hold it for you?

  9. According to the United States Postal Service "The person who prepares this form (change of address) states that he or she is the person, executor, guardian, authorized officer, or agent of the person for whom mail would be forwarded under this order. Anyone submitting false or inaccurate information on this form is subject to punishment by fine or imprisonment or both under Sections 2, 1001, 1702 and 1708 of Title 18, United States Code."  So yes...if caught you could be slapped with a couple serious felonies for submitting false information.  Better to fess up.  Or if that is not an option, tell the person that you can't receive mail at work, and have them mail it to "your residential address" in the same area.  It would probably raise less suspension, if a regular Joe filled out a change of address using a residential address, rather than Microsoft Corp.  But I don't recommend that you attempt either method.

  10. lmao you may get away with it. check at the postal office

  11. Just do a change of address from your supposed work address to your current one.  Not that hard :)!

  12. Just say you've changed address in an emergency. Maybe the house got flooded by a faulty washing machine, or another tenant started a fired or something like that. Or someone was doing some DIY, and cut through asbestos or some other harmful substance, so after one of the tenants has reported this, the local authority has ordered that everyone vacate the building immediately, on health and safety grounds, something like that,  (but something plausible!) and that you have had to move overnight in an emergency, and then give your current address as your new address, because it's no longer possible to send post/mail to the other address.

Or just tell the truth :-)

EDIT: Oh! Sorry, work address! thought you said, residential address. Well, same thing, just say that something has happened to the companies building, there was a fire or something, or there was a health and safety violation by the company, or structural problems with the building. Have there been any earthquakes, floods, heavy rains, hurricanes in your area lately? So, on health and safety grounds, the building has be vacated, and give the new address as a forwarding address, or give your home address?

Or, just tell the truth :-)
