  1. NO deal.

If you are going to pay for the engine, then it would be over $1400. Besides, this make and model isnt reliable at that amount of miles.

  2. Yes a new engine will be expensive, the only way it would be worth buying is if you could change the engine yourself and not pay all the labor at $80 an hour for a shop to do it.  It'll cost you $1K just in labor and another 5 or 6 hundred for a decent used engine.

Its a "no deal" in my humble opinion.  It'll probably be needing a transmission before too long as well.

  3. Definitely no deal. There are a lot of Chrysler products for sale with failed engines and transmissions. They are to be avoided. They have no resale value and are not reliable.

  4. That car is worth $4000 tops. It wil cost you 2 grand to pay someone to install a new engine.

Save yourself the hassle and some cash and buy something that is running.

  5. no deal, engines are expensive, $500 tops.

  6. Nope, don't do it, with the cost of the engine plus the labor to have it installed plus $1400, you could avoid the hassle and buy a decent used car.

  7. *Hits the buzzer* "No deal!"

No way would I take that. The engine alone (plus the labor to get it in that car) would be worth more than the car itself.

  8. It depends, really.  If you were in the market for a 2001 Dodge Intrepid with a bad motor, so you can fix it, then it's okay.  The 2.7's have a problem with oil not draining and they sludge up.  There are  lot of them on the market with blown engines or recently replaced engines.

If you just want a car to drive, then this would be a stupid purchase, because the car does not run.  If you have to ask us what to do, that's an indication that you are NOT ready to take on this set of problems.
