  1. A Yamaha FZ6 is a very capable bike from what I've read. Unless you have considerable riding experience, a 250cc motorcycle might be a tamer bet. As a new rider myself, I bought a Yamaha Virago 250 for a good learner. It's easy to ride on the highway, as the 250cc V-twin engine offers plentiful torque. Comfortable ride, good handling and wonderful gas mileage too. The Virago is a cruiser and has a more comfortable riding position than a crotch rocket. For what it is, it looks good and sounds the same. Maybe I should think about attracting chicks with mine !

  2. Girls would rather ride on a crusier.

Not up in the air on the back of a bike made to solo ride

  3. yes

in that same class as that bike are the Ninja 650R and suzuki SV650S

  4. The FZ6 is an expensive toy for that purpose.  You might find that a 250 is better for your first bike and make it a used one, if possible.  The FZ6, has all sorts of plastic body work, that have to be replaced if you just lay it down at a stop sign.

You'll get better gas mileage as well.  Not so good at moving two people though.

Take a look at the Ninja 500, or the Yamaha Majesty.
