I hate talking to people for fear of sounding stupid. I have to get up the nerve to call someone when I really need to. I talk to friends and family regularly, its just people I don't know that I get tongue tied with. My words always get jumbled and I get nervous, Help! Is this like social anxiety or what!!

  1. hey dont worry about it.

mi m8 and i got stuck in th city once in the middle of th night. i really hated talking 2 strangers, but 2 get home we had to get money. so mi mate sorta taught me how 2 talk 2 ppl, mainly to get money. and considering i was pretending to b a guy at the time so we got into less S**t.... that was fun tho.... XD u'll grow out of it dont worry.

  2. i don't think it's a disorder, i think ur just really shy and anxious about how u might come off to people

  3. I used to be a bit like that, you just lack confidence thats all.  One of my friends used to be so embarassed even just paying for a bus ticket, now she is totally confident.

You will grow out of it, I did.  I hated calling people, now I am on the phone all day with work!

  4. Yeah it sounds like social anxiety, I had the same problem and it didn't completely go away until about a year after I graduated from highschool.  What helped me most was just forcing myself to talk to people and putting myself in positions where many people would have to talk to me (like getting a job as a receptionist; my job was to talk to people).  I noticed that after I had talked to so many people, I got less and less nervous and now I don't even think twice about talking to strangers or making an important phone call.  I'm not sure if you've already tried something like that, or how long your problem has been going on, but if it's the same problem I had then you definitely have hope.

  5. I'd say you're just uncomfortable talking to strangers. Relax, slow down your speech so you're coherent, and enjoy yourself around others.

  6. Happens to me too sometimes.

Someone gave me some good advice though and it might help for you too.

Imagine you're talking to someone you feel really confertable talking to.

Or, imagine you're acting and wht you say are lines from a script.

    Good luck! :)

  7. its no disorder your just really nervous

  8. you sound like someone who is just low self esteem, and no self confidence...just remember, you are just as good if not better than everyone else...but just more thoughtful and humble about it...be who you are, and don't worry about sounding stupid, there are some people out there, who will try to put you down if you were Einstein..you'll be fine honey,

  9. well it may be some social anxiety, based on who youre trying to talk to, but dont stress about it, its not a disorder and you probably just need to practice more social skills and build self confidence. anyways, you should care as much what others think about you.
