Okay, so I recently lost some of my capital in the market simply because I wasn't diversified. I refuse to let the stock market get the best of me, so I want to diversify this time around. Would you consider this a diversified portfolio and would you consider it a good balance of risk? I'd put 20% of my money in each stock.

Wal-Mart (WMT)

Frontline (FRO)

Genzyme (GENZ)

JP Morgan Chase (JPM)

Cal-Maine Foods (CALM)

  1. Somewhat.  What's your goal? What's your time horizon? What's your risk tolorence.

No one can pass judgement on this portfolio without a whole lot more info.

There's no International.   This is a "start".....

  2. You're okay, but I wouldn't go 20 with JPM or GENZ... maybe 10 because they're more risky. Take the other  20% you save and get into maybe an ETF( or two ) in metals/mining or  materials, emerging mkts... something like that to get you into the global growth area a little.

  3. buy wamu (WM) stock.  It's a huge risk b/c the bank could totally crumble, but it could have huge payoff in 2-4 yrs.

  4. try mc donald's and nike

i dont like the very much but after beijing2008 they'll have more importance in the international business

i would buy oracle, eni s.p.a, MT, ING, DIS, AAPL

    sorry for the abbreviation

  5. Nope! You have 100% in stock, 60% in Consumer goods, 20% in financials, and 20% in GENZ. Diversification would be 30% stock, 30% bonds, 20% International, 10% commodities and 10% Money Market. Try mutual funds. You can get a much wider mix of stock/bonds etc. I recommend 30% Domestic, 40% international (some latin American some European), 20% bonds/ securities and 10% Money Market. Check Morningstar ratings and get 4-5* avg - low risk funds. For a little more risk, try 5-10% in Energy funds.

  6. I HAVE NO IDEA, sorry i'm not help. i'm 16 and i'm trying to start as well!!
