Ok Right i downloaded a program called THECOSERVER.exe and mcafee is detecting it as BackDoor-DKI.gen.a. But i dont think this is a virus because the program listens computers and that what the virus does. So i done a Virus scan on the internet and 31 out of 36 scanners detected it as a virus i really need this program because i am doing something. Im not opening it until im sure this is not a virus. BTW i downloaded this file from 3 different files so it not just that website. So should i open it or trust my virus scanner. and any details about this virus would be nice thanks.

  1. It is INDEED a virus or more to the point a Trojan. Go here http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_145171....

You should trust your virus scanner and delete the file or quarantine it.

  2. Hi

I suggest you upload the file to one of these multi-engine online scanners:

    http://www.virustotal.com/

    or

    http://virusscan.jotti.org/

These sites scan it with many many engines and if the majority does not detect it and you trust the file/vendor of file, probably it's not infected but there is still a chance. The safest thing is to delete it.

  3. McAfee reports BackDoor-DKI.gen.d!55217B27

    is a trojan.

You gave a similar name BackDoor-DKI.gen.a

    What does your program do?

If it is a hacking tool, your anti-virus and anti-spyware tools will see it as a threat, and report it as such.
