Could their have been advanced civilizations like today perhaps thousands of years before Sumeria? What archaeological evidence have you seen or read that made you wonder?

Has mankind wiped themselves out through, perhaps, nuclear wars in the past, leaving small percentage of humans on earth? Could it be natural disasters? And finally was Sumeria the first recovering civilization from the past modern culture?

  1. Till we find evidence, all such theories remain flights of imagination.I don't think that there ever existed a civilization far advanced than the present one except, may be ,in some specific respects.

  2. Try the book Finger Prints of the Gods by Graham Hancock, or go to his web site.

  3. Not like today; probably not even close.

I've never heard of or seen or read about ANY evidence that makes me wonder about this.

No, we didn't wipe ourselves out; we started small, and have grown in population.

No, Sumeria was the first (currently known) civilization to develop.

Yes, it's fun to make stuff up; but truth is even MORE fun and interesting.

Yes, your question sounds like fiction. In fact, it puts me in mind of the Asimov short story -- whoops! can't come up with the name, but of a planet where every big gabunch of years, people would burn their civilization to the ground and start over. (They went mad

  4. Too fickle evidence.

Fascinating, but unsupported by facts, sorry.
