I will soon be purchasing a 1911 .45 handgun. Currently im leaning toward the Para-Ordinance 1911 SSP. My question is.... Is para-ordinance a good firearms supplier? How are they on value? quality? reliability? I need something that will last me my whole life. I know how to take care of a firearm and will do the same for my first .45..... I'm hoping para-ordinance makes a quality firearm.

  1. Para makes some very good handguns. A buddy of mine speaks very highly. I am not a big 1911 fan so I have not shot one but know they have a great reputation.

start with The Preparation and then go to the 1000 round challenge.

  2. Good weapon and well made; only drawback it is made id the people's republic of canada where the people are oppressed as subjects and are not citizens.  They do not have the right to defend themselves against criminals nor an oppresive government.  I am sure they love their country but fear their government; as do all patriots.

  3. I'm a .45acp fanatic. I've carried one on and off duty for over 27 years. My current concealed carry pistol is a para ord "nitehawg" that I have carried since they first came out. It is extremely reliable, very accurate, and I love it. It is the smallest high capacity .45acp pistol produced. I also endorse their other pistols without hesitation.

    shoot safe

  4. Para-Ordinance makes a h**l of a gun and has several options for action. With Single-Action, Light Double Action (LDA), and Double Action Only (DAO). In addition, if you search a bit, you can find high-capacity mags for the Para. If you can get over the fact that it's made in Canada, you will have a gun that you can rely on for decades.

  5. The only problem with Para is the fact that they are made in Canada. But the oppressive government for Canada will not allow its people the rights to protect them selves.

As far as gun quality goes. I would rank it number 1 without including Les Bear or Wilson Combat pistols.

  6. Your best choice is the Colt Combat Commander.*

  7. the Para-Ordinance 1911 SSP is a great gun i say get it you wont regret it

  8. rPara makes good guns and I find some comments here hilarious.  I wonder how many posters at one time or another owned a gun made in China (Norinco) or Serbia (Zastava).  Of the three (Canada, China, Serbia)  which one has the most liberty?  Just a thought.

  9. They do, but are produced in Canada. Why not buy an American made gun for the same money and quality? If you are Canadian my apologies. Buy the Para then. I have nothing against them, just dont discount the fine guns Springfield, and kimber make, as well as Colt and Smith and wesson. I personally Own a Springfield, and have in 8 years had no complaints or problems. I always thought the Kimbers were prettier though.
