Hey, im about to run a 3000m race in a few days.

In my hype i signed up for it. So i went to the track, 400m each lap. I didnt want to stress myself too much so i went for a consistent medium jog all the way wothout stopping. I did 8 laps of the 400m track and got a time of 16:30.

Is that a good time or a bad time, i need to knwo incase i will get beaten by a lot infront of the whole school at the athletics carnival.

Thanks

  1. Not really, this is not a what I would consider "race pace" you should be running more like sub 7's.

  2. thats good I guess if you havnt been traing, but you should be able to go faster than 8 minutes a mile

  3. "Good" is a very relative term.  If i were to run a 3k, i would want my time much lower than that.  If you haven't been training, its a good time, 8 minute miles.  If you're running against distance runners, you will (not may, but will) be beaten.  If you're just running against other athletes, try to take it up a half-step, and you may do well, but I don't really know.

    good luck
