$670 Canadian, 6th floor private bachelor appt, no balcony. Elevator, the floors are wood-coated. 1 bedroom, 1 kitchen, 1 bathroom, and 1 large room. No furniture save kitchen counter.

Pros: Hydro, stove, fridge, C02 Detector, shower, laundry on-site. Walking distance from train station; $4.00 ticket gives me access to Toronto. Building has security and locked front doors. Internet probable. Near highway if I ever get a car. No-smoking and no-drugs policy in effect; drug-sniffing dogs. Cage to lock bike in.

Cons: The whole building smells like soap. Right beside the train tracks and near the highway. I didn't see any groccery stores nearby.

-This building is the second-least-expensive I could find; the least-expensive won't return my calls. I've just graduated from College and I owe some student loan, and I haven't found a job yet. But if I find a job in Toronto, this would be the ideal for low-cost transport.

  1. not that bad

  2. Usually the application fee is not refundable.

It sounds like reasonable low income housing to me.   Many smell like things much worse then soap.
