Question:

Is this a good GCSE mark?

I am only in year 9 (14 years old) and recently did my German GCSE 2 years early. I did the higher paper, so it was harder, and really wanted to do well. I got my mark yesterday and it was a B. I was predicted an A and I suppose I'm sort of dissapointed with it.

Would you be happy if you got a B on the higher exam paper? Plus I guess I did do it early...but I still think I should have done better.

What do you think?

  1. It's fine. And if you're not pleased with that, you can always re-take. But if I were you, I'd stick to it. Target/Predicted grades are always wrong and at the end of the day, you did your best. Anything over a C is fine. Congratulations. x

  2. dont fret...

    you are 14...

    you got a B..

    THAT IS FANTASTIC...

    WELL DONE....

this is coming from someone who just got her gcse results yesterday and got A's and B's!!!!!!!!

  3. you did really well you shouldn't be disappointed !

    congratulations !

  4. A B in a higher tier GCSE paper at 14 is amazing, well done. You should be very proud of yourself, keep that up till you sit the rest of your GCSE's and you'll do extremely well and have a good future ahead of you :)

  5. well done thats really gd i did my german gcse in 1 yr and come out with a B i think u should be really happy and u did it early go u

  6. I'd say it is a very good mark and I think you probably know that. But what a good mark is varies from person to person. I've had B's in before now (in other subjects though, absolutely hated German lessons) and felt unhappy with them. You'll just have to work harder in years to come, which is easier said than done I know - I took me years to learn this one, I didn't put everything in to my GCSE's, A levels or first year of Uni.

  7. d**n right i'd be happy!

  8. I would be very proud of myself if I got a B!  that's amazing, congratulations!  It's very impressive that you got to sit your German GCSE  two years early, and impressive that you recieved a B!  You should be proud, but if it bothers you, I'm sure you can resit when you're ready.

    congratulations again!

  9. Seriously, I also answered your other question and you seem really clever. You did the HIGHER paper, 2 YEARS EARLY, and PASSED, with a B!! I mean, wow. COngrats!!!!!!!! You did great, hun.

    =] xo

  10. okay this might sound abit arrogant and cocky, but most people take the higher paper anyway it's no big deal. if fact if you take foundation it's weird. i'm just being honest.

plus if anyone's planning on taking any subjects early it's coz you're really good which means bieng capable of getting an A*. otherwise why take it early. might as well do it better at the correct time with more study.

however on the other hand if you got B when you took them normally at y11, it would be alright. taking it early and not getting the good grade just shows you're not ready yet which is perfectly fine.

  11. Well yes of course that is a good mark especially for you giving it two years early.

And then again you can always give it again if your not pleased with your result as you hav a few years to go. I'm 15 and i just finished year 10 and hav given 3 GCE's. These are a little harder than GCSE's as it isnt secondary. I got one A one A* and one B. But the B was in a language that I had only been studying for 2 years when it was meant to be for yor whole school life, which is Urdu by the way and I am really bad at it. However I am pleased with myself and you should be too.

It really depends what field youre going for if your going to do medical you really dont need to worry about these grades. You'll only need to do good in your other subjects. Ive chosen Math , Biology , Physics, chemistry and physics and am DEAD scared that im going to fail miserably. Im giving Math and English later this year which is early again. the thing however about giving it early is that if you do bad you can always try again.

    Sorry for blabbing so much

    But WELL DONE !

  12. I got a few B's and I was fine with it. But I was 16 when I did mine.. You're only 14! You should be proud =)
