I am 15 and i got 118. Is this good, what does it mean?

heres the break down

Over 140 - Genius or near genius

120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence

110 - 119 - Superior intelligence

90 - 109 - Normal or average intelligence

80 - 89 - Dullness

70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency

Under 70 - Definite feeble-mindedness

maybe age makes a differenece but hey..."superior intelligence" sounds pretty good

well mine was a government IQ test and i got a 137. thats really high. your high average

If you took an official, proctored exam, then yes, that's above average.  If you took an online IQ test, then it's meaningless.  None of those tests agree with the official tests or each other.

Is it good?  Well, it certainly isn't outright bad.  Is it meaningful?  Probably not very.

It means you scored a little bit higher than average on that IQ test.  It probably means you scored better than about 85% of the people that took the same test -- the exact percentile you fit into depends on the exact test you took, but 85th percentile is the lowest I would expect to find for that score.  IQ scores are designed to average at 100, and your score is somewhere around one standard deviation above that.

It might mean people around you think "hey, he's a pretty smart guy."

Now, here's the secret truth:  IQ tests don't measure intelligence.  All they really measure is your ability to answer IQ test questions.  There is a loose relationship between solving IQ test problems and solving real-world problems.  The designers of IQ tests try to make that correlation as tight as possible.  Still, even the best tests are far from perfect.  And the worst of them are truly terrible.

I should know.  I once scored a 160 one one of those freebie online tests.  On more reliable tests, I tend to score between 130 and 135.

Ah, yes, there's the other thing.  On this one test, this one time, you scored 118.  Another test, another time, you'll likely get a different score.

If this was a school-sponsored IQ test, it probably means nothing more than that you're now pigeon-holed into the "smart, but not gifted enough to be troublesome" category.
