A precis on "No Small Find at the Big Eddy"

Along the banks of the Sac River and excavation site known as "Big Eddy" holds a treasure trove of artifacts that could be completely gone in the next fifteen years. Seasonal flooding in the area buried the artifacts under layers of silt, making a followable time line for archaeologists. Not only are the artifacts ways to date, but some have been dated to be from the Ice Age, making them some of the oldest ever found in relation to Native American life. Unfortunately, the flowing waters of the river wash more artifacts away everyday, until, eventually, they will all be completely lost.

The article is from the october 2005 issue of the National Geographic magazine. It was stored away, and I had to write a precis, so I used that article.

Please opinions, suggestions, anything. Really appreciate it. Thanks!!

  1. not bad...

    River AN excavation site...(not and)

"...WAYS to date"? perhaps you mean, "not only are there ways to date the artifacts..."...but the "Not only..." part is unnecessary. Start with "There are ways to date..."

"...some have been dated from the Ice Age..."

"everyday" should be two words here, then delete the final two commas

"completely" is unnecessary. A precis must be brief, by definition.

    Good luck
