I believe that the XSi is VERY good value for money, with many excellent features.

However, it sounds like you really should do some research to help you understand the differences.

Don't forget that the body is nowhere near as important as the lenses and the whole lens system you'll be buying into.

Yes, its a good entry level slr, although there are other cameras like it as well (nikon and olympus make several that are direct competitors to it). I would look it up on dpreview.com and read their full review of the camera, as they provide photo samples, comparisons, etc. that those people answering here cannot.
