Original Q: Why doesn't the US government tax the rich more than they currently do?

My Answer: The US government formed an equilibrium (if not, I just did lol):

Of course there are many other factors out there such as other methods of tax evasion and how money is power (The rich can do what they want in many situations. In example: the rich sponsor politicians that let them keep their taxes low)

  1. You answer part of what you asked ! In USA,the richest and the poorest are the smallest amount of whole USA population. The middle income is the major makeup of whole population. In order to capture more tax income, government setup a policy to tax more (higher rate compare to the middle class income) on the middle class income family (employee).

The richest class (employer) has many ways to get arround to pay their share of income tax and it is legal according to the taxation law.

  2. Why don't you tax yourself more than you currently do? Government is not about fairness now, if it ever was. Those who make the most money have the most power. Most people involved in government are smart enough to know what they're doing to the middle and lower class. Some are willing to provide services in return, others are not. Image how little help you'd need from the government if they just left you alone! No sales tax, no car tax, no tax on your pay. That is what our country was meant to be.
