I want to get an Epiphone Les paul in a starter set. Would this be a good-quality set to learn on? I would like it to last as well though. Is this good and if not, any recommendations?

  1. Yes, the Epiphone is a cheap version of the Gibson Les Paul witch can run as high as several thousand . As you improve your knowledge and skills you can get a Gibson later on.

Just a tid-bit FYI; I didn't like my Gibson Les Paul I had because it was too heavy. I prefer a lighter guitar myself. You may not mind the weight. Fender Stratocasters are lighter.

  2. Yes. However, before you buy the Player Pack from anybody, you should visit a guitar shop that sells used guitars and amps. These LPs are all over the place for cheap. I paid $60 for mine, and got a much larger, very nice Peavey amp for $127. Saved some money and the amp was a steal for that price.

Most people end up replacing the amp that comes included in a Player Pack, so save your bucks by buying the guitar and amp separately.

Make sure you have someone "set-up" the guitar for you as they don't always come "well done" from the factory. A set-up should cost you about $30 and should include new strings.

Personally, I love this guitar. It has a great neck and is lighter than the Gibson equivalent.. Not the best pickups, but those can be replaced later.

    Good luck!
