Is this a good breakfast for feeling full and boosting/maintaining energy levels?

I need something to keep me feeling satisfied until lunch and lift my energy levels. Is porridge with dried apricots and pumpkin seeds a good choice? And would it be better to cook the porridge with water (less calories) or skimmed milk (calcium & protein)?

  1.      Porridge cooked with skim milk and topped with dried apricots and pumpkin seeds is a pretty balanced breakfast. You are getting fiber and potassium from the oats, fruit, and seeds, and the healthy unsaturated fats and protein in the seeds and milk (respectively) will help keep you alert and full longer.

If you have more time in the morning, I would also recommend cooking up two eggs (however you like) with a side of whole wheat toast with light Smart Balance spread on it (or a tsp. of peanut butter).  It is a perfect balance of healthy fats, carbs, and protein to keep you satisfied longer, and your energy levels up.

As for not eating between breakfast and lunch could be okay depending on how much of a time lapse there is between meals.  Nutritionists recommend eating every three hours.  This benefits your metabolism and keeps you from overeating at your next meal. I would suggest a snack midway through your breakfast and lunch, such as a piece of fruit and a small slice of cheese, or a small handful of almonds or other nuts.

         Hope this helps!

  2. That's a great breakfast. Go for the skimmed mil. It will taste a little nicer.

  3. yes definetely! i have porridge and a banana for breakfast at like half  8 and then at half 11 have a small snack before lunch, porridge feels you up and def have it with milk! much more tastier and fills you up more xx

  4. That is a great breakfast. Skimmed milk is absolutely fine for porridge and have a hot drink too like herbal tea.  You should plan to have a snack at 11.  You shouldn't go from breakfast to lunch without a fruit or nuts snack in between.
