Is this a good cage choice??

Question

Okay I asked about another chinchilla cage and It got bad reviews. So..... what if I put cardboard at the bottom of the cage or got this? http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753257

that is the size of my rat cage, so sorry, but WAY too small.

chinchillas are hard to buy cages for because they need so much space. i would consider constructing your own cage out of rabbit wire and a kiddie pool.

No. How is cardboard going to keep a chinchilla from chewing on the plastic? The chinchilla would only eat the cardboard, and pee all over it.

That first cage was too small. End of. With, or without cardboard- it's too small.

However, this second cage is a bit better and would be suitable for /one/ chinchilla, with pleanty of time outside of the cage.

In my opinion, the cage that the link shows is a pretty good cage! It's big and spacious, so your chinchilla will have lots of room to run around, and overall is a good cage to get. I would line the bottom of the cage with cardboard and then about a half-inch of tissues or other bedding that you can find at all pet stores, so that your chinchilla can walk comfortably.

This cage can be good for your chinchilla too. I would recommend actually going to PetSmart and asking the employees there about which cage is best for your chinchilla, as they can provide you with a lot of good information and you can see the cages hands on. This way, you can better look at the cages and choose which one you think is best.
