Is this a good cage for rats?

I'm going to get some male rats and was wondering if this cage would be good for them?

Absolutely! It's the best cage I've come across. I actually have 2 males in that cage right now, and it is very spacious for them.

Only suggestion: Remove the wire mesh exercise wheel. Either replace it with a Wodent Wheel or Silent Spinner, or just leave the space open for other accessories.

My males want nothing to do with an exercise wheel. They do love Chubes, though. Great to hide/sleep in, and also to shred apart. :)

P.S. Avoid cedar/pine bedding, just in case you didn't know. It's toxic to small animals.

I love Yesterday's News as a bedding. :)

It's good for 2, but the cage calculator says the max is 4.  I personally wouldn't put more then 3 in it just because boys like to play and get so big. :P   But it's not a bad cage at all!

but reamber the more rats you get the bigger the cage!

rats like alot of room! there is nothing to big for a rat!!!

and also rats do stress about there cage so keep it big!

dont worry about your rats stress though ...its big enough for about 3 to 4 rats!

I have 4 female rats of all different colors. They are in a large aquarium with a steel mesh top. They love it in there. Also, I use unstained small bird houses, the ones you find at craft stores, make the hole big enough for a rat or two.They love sleeping in it together. I have two of those in the cage. When they want to be alone, they just go in and no one bothers them!

they'd love it.

although my squishy male rat i call HoodRat isn't too fond of the hammock. He'll get in it for like 3 seconds, then practically fall out. What can i say? he's a trip.

theyd love it.

i had a hairless rat named harold, but it died a few months after i got it as do all rats, they get a tumor type thing and slowly die, i asked the women at the pet store i got it from and she said that happens.

but yeah the cage looks like alot of fun for a rat lol.
