  1. It depends how fussy you are. I personally would recommend a digital camcorder that records onto mini DV tapes rather than Hi-8. Digital is very easy, but the technology updates so quickly that it's impossible to keep up with, it so if you're happy with older technology, Sony is a wise choice and you probably won't notice the difference in quality anyway. I always google search for reviews of a specific model when I'm interested in something. Cnet is awesome for this.

At least the seller must be a good one, 100%/800 is an excellent recommendation. Ask the seller lots of questions. Good luck!

  2. I second, however, please note that Analog or so called Dig8 or Hi-8 is obsolete on the Camcorder market.  Why take one or two steps backwards?

ps...why on thunder do people insist on electronic purchases through internet or auction houses???

Warranty?  Do you know Sony and most other camcorder companies only have a 90 day labor policy on NEW camcorders?  Wanna know what the labor costs are?  Try $260 and above for just labor after 90 days.  Resale...warranty of any type?

Think you are saving money now?  Where is your support?  Tax free is hassle free?  Purchase local at least at clearance or reputable retail dealer that will be there after the sale.

    I wish you luck.

  3. thats an old camera, I would not buy it!
