I just bought a new 2008 15" model L7 square kicker, a zx1500 kicker amp, and a sealed box. The sub is 2000 watt max and 1000 watt rms. The amp is 1500 watt rms, and well the box is sealed. I heard that a sealed box is good for a more clear flat bass, and a ported box is better for the raw bump. Well i wanted the raw bump and i bought the sealed box before doing more research to realize that. Will this sub still give me the bump that i am wanting in the sealed box or should i buy a ported box and return the sealed one. This is for my 1999 coupe honda accord. I am new to this and am hoping to get some answers thank you. :)

  2. well i prefer sealed boxes and i think your application will go well in a sealed box

  3. L7 like ported boxes.

the whole sealed vs. ported thing always comes up. however a properly tuned ported box will out perform a sealed box most of the time. the reason people say they like a sealed box because of the flat response is because they probably never heard a properly tuned ported one....which can yeild a much flatter response for a wider frequency range....if tuned properly.
