Is this a good deal, 2006 chevy cobalt 39k?

I was looking at getting a cobalt and saw this ad at cars.com and I called them and told them I could give them $10,000 off the lot (having the taxes processing fee etc included) and after beating around the bush for a day or two they told me to come in and they would give me the 10,000 off the lot price. I thought it was a pretty good deal for a clean carfax, automatic, and good running 2006 cobalt. What do you all think?

  1. Do not listen to Natalia. Do you see how that website she always plugs looks? It looks like a 5year old designed it. The cobalt is a good practical car, and you got a decent deal. Dont let anyone like Natalia tell you different. I cannot stand someone who is so brainwashed by Honda and Toyota constantly slam Gm. This is America! We have the right to drive what we want. If you dont like it then go back to Russia or wherever your from. We Americans like to drive our Chevys, Pontiacs, etc. I will never drive a Honda or Toyota, and that is my choice. They do not make one exciting car. Everything is just so boring. Yet I am not bashing every Honda or Toyota question.  Hondas and Toyotas have plenty of problems. Why dont you take a minute and look Natalia.

  2. you can get a NEW one for that much! 06's are going for far less now days. look at the newspaper on sunday.

  3. don't listen to the answer from the last post to scare you away from getting what you want they are decent little cars easy to maintain and good on gas  and have a little get up and go to them, your not asking about a Lexus. You had you heart set on a Cobalt or you wouldn't have asked. As with every car make or model it needs to be maintained. Now  to answer your question you could get into a new  08 Cobalt  for  about $12,000 I would talk them down a bit more. good luck car shopping

  4. If it were given to you free, it may not be a good deal, for quite a number of reasons, some of which are:

    (1) The 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt is on Consumer Reports' 2008 list of Used Cars to Avoid.

    (2) The Chevrolet Cobalt is on AutoOnInfo.net's list of the Worst Automobiles of 2008 with a Composite Reliability Score of -.17 on a scale of -1.00 to 1.00.

    (3) The 5-year Reliability Percentrank average for the Chevrolet line is .32, General Motors' overall average is .31, Honda's overall average is .84, and Toyota's overall average is .89.

    (4) The Chevrolet line overwhelming dominated Consumer Reports' list of Used Cars to Avoid.

    (5) AutoOnInfo.net's detailed reliability and durability studies suggest that a typical 3-year-old Chevrolet is as troublesome to own as a typical 26-year-old Honda and a typical 19-year-old Toyota.
