PS what does max iso range mean, and is that good for this camera?

12 mp is really good for a camera in this price range although be prepared to sink a lot of money into batteries because it will drain them. I think you would have trouble finding a camera like that for a lower price so what i would suggest is getting it and for 50$ buy a set of rechargeable batteries and a charger if you dint already have one.

Some of the secifications like 12 MP and 3200 ISO rande sound impressive. However there are bettor camera's out there. I think a Canon,Niko,Sony,Fuji or Olympic would be a bettor choice. Don't just look at numbers and specifacations.What really counts is image quality. I like the Canon A series powershot myself. And they take very nice pictures. Mine is the A-590IS. It has image stabilization through the lens,much bettor than digital stabilization. About $179 U.S.

Personally, I think Kodak has gone downhill in recent years. But some of their cameras are still decent. This is technically a decent camera, possibly a little on the cheap side for something of this caliber (12 mp), or a good deal. ISO speed is the speed at which the shutter closes, thus the max speed the camera can capture. I believe the formula equates to this camera being able to take shots at 32 microseconds. You will never really need something this quick, but it's nice to know you have it in the case of action shots. All together, it's not a bad little setup for the price. I would say go for it, but make sure to get a warranty.

This is an excellent camera, and at quite a reasonable price.  The ISO range refers to the range of possible shutter speeds on the camera, which allows the camera to be adjusted (manually or automatically) to ambient light conditions.  At this range, it may also be used for certain special effects, such as capturing motion by holding the shutters open so that the action appears as a blur across the image.

Also of interest is the 5x optical zoom, which will get you a much wider range of zoom than the 3x of a standard digital camera.  Digital zoom is nothing special, simply blowing up the image that's already been taken, identical to zooming in on a picture on a computer.

One final advantage is the AA size batteries which the camera takes.  Kodak makes a rechargeable 2xAA battery pack that is reasonably priced, and the batteries have the advantage of being able to be switched for regular AAs should the batteries die.  Most digital cameras on the market use a proprietary rechargeable battery pack, and unless you buy multiple battery packs, you're out of luck if your camera dies.

The camera has an extremely sharp image sensor--12 megapixels!  This is probably overkill, and you would probably be fine with a less expensive camera.  Poster-size prints (20"x30") are shot full-quality with a 5-megapixel camera, so unless you're planning to print pictures the size of murals, you may want to go with a less expensive model (8 MP or so), or at the least, use a lower resolution setting on the camera.

All in all, the Kodaks are excellent cameras.  They now have a newly redesigned menu which is very easy to use, and features full descriptions of every setting which are readable from the menu itself.  The computer software is also very intuitive, and the camera can be recharged (if equipped) via the USB sync cable.
