I recently got something in the mail from HP for a labor day laptop sale. The HP dv5z Pavilion for $559.99 which is $295 off the original price. Here is a link to info and specs. http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4486

  1. Hi!

This seems like a good configuration..

There is one thing you should do if you want to buy this. Spend a few extra $$ to upgrade the memory. - As far as I can see it's delivered with 2 GB Ram..

Upgrade to 4 GB (Maximum for this computer)

    Increases the experience!!

  2. Although the computer your looking to buy is solely based on how you plan on using and your technical experience and comfortability. This PC is a very rigid machine from what I can see and would be a good investment for students or people who need the mobility with a strong case. Built for heavy use.

Processor: 2.1GHz AMD Turion X2 Ultra dual-core processor ZM-80 --dual core... perfect

Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 3200 -- great

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium with SP 1 (64-bit) -- I hate Vista and don't recommend it to anyone

    Screen: 15.4" WSXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1680 x 1050) --beautiful, clear widescreen

Memory: 2GB (up to 4GB configurable) -- very good performace

Storage: 160GB SATA HDD (5400rpm) --decent hard disk space

Optical Drive: SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support -- a dvd burner, good

Wireless and Communications: 802.11b/g WLAN --good

    Good luck
