I walked my unhealthy dog to death

A paradox is a statement containing a contradiction but in reality expresses a truth. I am saying here that my dog was dog getting enough exercise, so I walked him to a point where he became to exhausted and died.

Is this right?

*Lol, no dogs died in the writing of this paradox

  1. Your statement is closer to "Irony"

A paradox would be something like this:

    The following sentence is true.

    The preceding sentence is false.

They inherently lead to an "impossibility."

    Another example:

If God can do anything, then he could create an object so heavy that even he himself could not lift it. But if he can do anything, then he would be able to lift the object regardless of how heavy it is.

There are zillions of other examples.

An oxymoron is an inherently contradictory term or phrase (which is similar to a pleonasm--which is an inherently redundant term)

example of oxymoron: Deafening silence (silence of course, is not deafening)

example of pleonasm: surrounded on all sides (you cannot be surrounded on anything BUT all sides).

Again, the asker's example is that of "irony."

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx...

oxymoron: a figure of speech that combines two opposing or contradictory ideas, such as freezing fire.

paradox: a statement or proposition which seems self-contradictory, absurd or at variance with common sense, though, on investigation or when explained, it may prove to be well-founded.

irony: a perception of inconsistency, [usually but not always humorous], in which an apparently straightforward statement or event is undermined by its context so as to give it a very different significance

  2. Isn`t that more of an oxymoron?

That is a genuine question not a smart **** answer by the way.
