Is this a good florescent bulb for a 30 gallon hexagon fish tank?

i have a 14 watt power glo florescent bulb (15in long buld) in a 30 gallon hexagon and i want to grow plants at 2 -3 watts per gallon is this a good bulb or what kind of bulb and hood set up or what do i need for it?

  1. That isn't a bad choice, but you will still be VERY limited.  Hex tanks are taller and have more water to penetrate, so stronger lighting is needed.  Really, I'd stick with things like Java Moss, Java Fern, Hygro, Swords, lilies, Aponogetons, Anubias, Crypts, Anacharis, Bacopa, Pennywort, or similarly tolerant plants until you get a T-5 fixture.
