I shot a 42 and i had back to back birdies and finished with a 6 over (par 36). Also are there any tips on how to keep the good round going? i birdied 2 and 3 and was 1 over through 5 and then was 5 over through the last 4?

  1. Consistency is a big key in golf. Stamina is another. Some start out strong and finish weak and visa versa. I suggest exercise to keep up the stamina and lots of practice to build consistency.

If you could keep the 6 over through the back nine as well that would still be a pretty good score and would beat most of the weekend players out there.

Keep practicing and you will go far.

  2. it sounds like consistency is somethin ya prolly wanna work on but otherwise i'd take it at that age

  3. not bad...go directly to see the coach...

  4. last year i know the winning score for my county tourny was around a 74 on a par 72.  the best player on my team, was the 7th best in the county averaged a 43 for the season.  i would suggest just playing 18 holes whenever you can, so you can get used to playing for a while and build up your endurence so yo will play the last 4 like the first 5.  the key is keeping the same swing.  as my coach always said, i would rather hit the ball 150 yards every time and perfectly straight, then 300 yards and all over the place

  5. Absolutely. Stay calm and enjoy the moment.

  6. Im 16 and on most cases i shoot 37 or 38. 42 isnt bad but it could be better. You probably lost strokes thinking about what score you were going to post. Alot of people have a problem with that

  7. Yes, 42 is a good score for your age, im sure you will improve.  It depends on what tees your were hitting off also.  What I find that helps is to hit off the tips when practicing so whenever a tournament comes around i'll be prepared.

  8. Yes that is a very good score for 15yrs old.  Heck that is a good score for any age IMHO.  Golf scores will be up and down throughout a round or over the course of a year.

Thats why handicaps look at your last 10scores on a course.  Not just a couple rounds.

As you get more golf under your belt your bogeys will fade, and you'll have more birdie chances.    Keep focus on each shot.
