Is this a good home theater system?

Is this a good 5.1 home theater system? I found it for $579 but am willing to go to $650. Is that the best for the money or can I get a better system? I would prefer it to be a htib.

no link, check out bestbuy they usually have where if you buy a speaker set you can get a discount on a receiver. That is how i picked up my Yamaha with JBL's

One thing that is generally true with home theater: You get what you pay for. It's true there are exceptions, but a $129 system is never going to perform like a $650 system, and a $650 system isn't going to perform like a $2500 system, and so on...

It's possible that you might find something for $500 that works as well as a $650 system if you spend some time shopping. The single most important thing is the speaker set and you can't shop for the way it sounds at Y/A unfortunately.

I would recommend going to all the stores in your area and have them demostrate everything they have in your price range. Something is going to stand out to you, and that's the one you buy!

There are great HTIB's at other retailers for much less money that are wonderful. The one I own I paid 128$, it is RCA I have had it for over 4 years and it has been wonderful. Good is a relative term. If you want to compare to everything that is out there then the answer is no. A $700 system is a low-end, entry level system for people that either dont want or cant spend a lot of money or simply dont care about audio/video quality. Even though your link has not shown, I am very familiar with the type of system you will get for $700. Its not a good system but it will do what you are looking for. Just dont go to a true A/V store otherwise you will hate your system. Once you hear the difference you cant go back.
