Is this a good idea for a story?

Theres this guy, that wears a gas mask, wears a sort of military gear, has a defensive force field, and is good with guns, who travels through time to stop bad guys from altering the timeline.

Maybe add where he came from and where the villans came from the time if he is considered "high tech" if this guy is a cool or a not cool guy and how did he get all this gear? make a begining story then ur readers know where he got it not it fell from the sky lols

It actually sounds similar to the movie Time Cop, which doesn't mean you couldn't write your story.  But right now it really doesn't have any meat to it.  You need to flush your idea a little more.  Figure out who your characters are, determine the events that are trying to be altered, etc.

Sorry--all I could picture was that Klingon on Star Trek.  I don't remember his name but he was the Security Officer For Picard.  He was so ugly his face could have been a gas mask.

What sort of military gear--standard uniform, swat, reconnaissance, SEAL. what?  Get a book on military uniforms & write out the descriptions of the articles he'd wear once you know what his mission or purpose in life is.

RE the defensive force field: does it render him invisible?  How--magic chant. potions, strength of character?Add more details in the comment area so we can help more.  Good luck
