Question:

Is this a good idea for a super hurricane?

Ok, so I have Fay sitting stationary on the panhandle with its center over the Gulf, good for intensification. I also have tropical low #97 at the Mexican-US border near Brownsville. I have nice warm Gulf water between the two systems. Let's say I weaken the ridge between the two and allow the two low pressure areas to merge. Walla, two merged tropical rotating systems right in the center of the Gulf of Mexico! I could probably finish off New Orleans and obliterate Houston also. Now get this. I have tropical lows #94 and #95 making a beeline towards the Caribbean , low enough in latitude to shoot 'em right between the Yucatan and Cuba. I could do a 1-2-3 punch and wipe Texas and Louisiana the map. Whadaya think?

  1. This isn't meteorologically sound.  Two low pressure systems aren't going to merge.  The horizontal wind shear would destroy one of the two systems, not to mention even a weakened ridge of high pressure would separate the two lows.

  2. Now God, you are just out of control! What are you trying to do, wipe us out? And that is a no on taking out California!! You hear??

Anyways, I just saw a program on the history chanel about the super volcano at Yellow Stone that is due to pop. The last one that erupted in India 75,000 years ago took out 90% of the world's population.

  3. i can tell that you waste your time with video games! you are not god, when you die you will go to h**l!

  4. Hold off on Texas until Bush is back on his ranch and then obliterate.

  5. HEY!!! Bring some ACTION to florida!!!!!

  6. don't get rid of Louisiana.  they have mardi gras and jazz.  what does texas have?  nothing!!!!!  obliterate!

  7. That's so crazy... it just might WORK!

Go on god, get those butterflies in Australia to flap their little wings!

I can see the two depressions merging, and getting energy from the gulf, but how are you going to direct them to the high pressure front?  She canna take it captain!

Oh, uh... it's 'viola'.  It's a French thing...

    Cheers ;)

  8. I think you have never lived through a major hurricane or you wouldn't find this line of thinking even remotely amusing.

  9. i suggest you change your video game

  10. Yeah, let's kill several million people. You're an idiot.

  11. That's an interesting proposition.  However, a hurricane will be limited by the amount of heat it can extract from the gulf waters in a period of time based upon the speed and direction it is traveling and maximum wind speeds would also likely be determined by the diameter of the storm's eye.  Ocean and sea water temperatures become increasingly cold at depth all around the globe and are icy cold at depth even at the equator, limiting fuel supply for a storm.  Also, the merging of two rotating storms may be unstable breaking up the storm.  Although you have an interesting thought experiment, there really are many imponderables at work.  In the sixties (or seventies?) they actually seeded hurricanes to determine whether they could possibly be controlled.  I believe they determined that a hurricane could be influenced by seeding but that raised concerns that a storm could be diverted from City A to City B, but the citizens of City B would likely sue for damages.  Hurricanes are considered to be an act of God (because you cannot sue God).

  12. I think you're definitely gonna finish off New Orleans with Fay....but I also think you didn't throw her together quite well enough to give it the whole 1-2-3 punch you're talking about, here.....I think you're gonna have to come back and finish the job......and you wouldn't have these problems if you'd thought this thing out BEFORE the pool party! (lol)

  13. Cut a path directly on the border of the Lone Star State. Make sure it is separated from the rest of North America. Leave an ocean filled trench at least 5 miles from each border. Then head north and do the same to Canada. Avenues will be open for more offshore oil and the illegal and snowbird situations are solved.
