i don't want just plain brown corkboard, so do you think if i put fabric over it that it will still work the same and everything and then add a frame? kind of like this, but it's too expensive to buy: http://www.pbteen.com/products/p3342/index.cfm?pkey=caccwal

  1. yeah, thats really cool. you can buy cheap fabric and other cork board decrative supplies at target and michals. hope i could help :)

  2. Yes, you may put fabric on your own corkboard ... get rubber glue and spread a thin layer on the corkboard, and then use a spatula (in the kitchen, be sure it's very, very clean) to spread the cloth so there are no 'air bubbles' or wrinkles.  If you do this properly, you don't even need a frame ... just glue the fabric onto the 'show side' and let it 'set' about an hour, then apply more glue to the 'edges' and the back and very carefully 'fold' the corners and fold the cloth over ... trim to about 1/2-3/4" and rub the rest of the rubber glue off ... use super glue to attach the 'hooks' to the back and then use an 'art hanger' at each top corner for stability.  I know how to do this because I have done it to many cork-boards ... right now, though, I have one with a silver frame and just plain cork ... it looks NEW because I've ALWAYS had cloth before.

  3. It should work fine. Try VERY thin fabrics. I would go with one pattern instead of a bunch. I think this will look excellent. Maybe add pretty ornaments to the end of your pins and paint the trim a pastel color.

  4. Very cute. The suggestions for making it sounded right on the money. Good luck.
