  1. My uncle used the excuse that he is left handed. It worked for 20 years until someone pointed out, to my aunt, that irons can be used by either hand.

  2. The future is not somewhere we are going. It is something we are creating. Every day we do things that make some futures more probable and others less likely.

Global warming already disrupts millions of lives daily in the forms of destructive weather patterns and loss of habitat.

What is already happening is only the tip of the melting iceberg, for it is our children and grandchildren who will suffer the greatest from the impacts of global warming. Hundreds of millions of people will be exposed to famine, water shortages, extreme weather conditions and a 20 - 30% loss of animal and plant species if we don't reduce the rate of global warming and reduce GHG emissions. This article outlines some ways that you can act to help prevent the Earth's atmosphere from warming further. While humankind has the ability to destroy the planet, we also have the capacity to protect and sustain it.

HOPE THIS INFORMATION WILL HELP YOU:)

  3. Just leave them crinkly. Gaia's life depends on it. Crinkly clothes will save us all...

I'm pretty sure Ghandi didn't iron (he DID of course spin though). Good enough for me.

  4. no...ironing does not make too much difference

  5. Ironing is a memory of my distant past ,

here in Mexico you are lucky if the washing comes back folded

if you (i mean the washer woman)hangs the washing on the line

and then she folds it .and packs it flat in stead of just shoving it in a plastic bag ,i would be so happy

just to think of all this makes me tired

Ironing is great for getting wax out of your clothes,if you fell asleep under the candles

  6. Helping to reduce energy demand has been going on since the '70's.  The United States has been doing a really good job at trying to minimize the energy usage over time.  It is just that there are larger TVs now than in the past and with computers also it increases our total demand.

For the person who thinks that changing electrical energy to heat.  Where do we get the electrical energy?  From a power plant that either creates a carbon footprint or nuclear waste.

  7. OK, stop ironing.  The clothes just get wrinkled again anyway.

BTW, here is truth about global warming:

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.

The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.

This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.

Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is

becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).

As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).

When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It's been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.

As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.

    Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':

    Humans did not cause it.

    Humans cannot stop it.

  8. i agree with the ironing, i think the more we try to help global warming the worst were making it,i feel if th earth just was left untouched none of these problems would be arising, they can blame us humans all they like but what about those massive aeroplanes there driving up into the air and the fumes that come out of those planes alone will kill the earth, so why should we keep our lights off for an hour once a week just to try save our planet when every other person is travelling high and pilots traveling high dont care

  9. Hey I'm with you!  Way to much carbon.  It's got to go!  :-)

  10. good idea and buy new close so we don`t half to wash and use dryer

  11. ironing does not do any harm to the environment.

it is just converting electrical energy to heat energy . instead u can think of making using refrigerators illegal. ( it lest out cfc's )

  12. You could leave your fridge, and freezer doors open, to compensate for the heat of your iron.

    (only kiddin)

  13. Yes, we should make ironing illegal. I did so several years ago.

I just thought of something. Women started ignoring me about the same time.

I think wrinkles add character to one's ensemble.

    Do your bit, mysterious Magpie.

Embrace wrinkles and save the planet!
