Question:

Is this a good idea to improve my 2 mile?

I can run 2 miles nonstop at a time of 14:46. I want to increase my time, So its it better to run 2 miles at a faster pace. Or is it just better to run more miles?

  1. Running more miles will eventually slow you down because you would be going for distance, versus your goal of increasing speed.  I would recommend sprints.  One trainer told me to job 1/4 mile, then sprint for 1/4 mile, and repeat the cycle for a couple of miles.  It has helped me increase my speed.  Try it out and see if it works for you.


  2. You should add a combination of speed workouts and endurance(longer run) workouts to your weekly routine. The speed workouts(intervals) will help you be faster. The endurance help you recover and give you a nice aerobic excercise. Good Luck!!
