I have an idea for a car that runs on air; doesn't pollute an can go from los angelos to new york city without fueling up. Good idea? or no?

BTW i'm asking in this section because it seems this is where every1 hangs out

  1. Go to Keeleynet.com. There are a few ideas as to how an air car would work in there. But you might be better off using a noble gas-powered car. Similar, but better.

  2. Already exisits

Future Cars, Discovery Channel had segment on CNG fuelled cars.

NOT public yet but in R&D stage.

  3. As Bart's bully says~HAA-HAA!~ It would take eating lots of beans and the hose up your butt would be mighty uncomfortable. Maybe you could utilize some Mexillegals in your trunk~Nyuk! Or go into a field with a bunch of balloons to capture some cow farts~HAA HAA!

  4. Of course its a wonderful idea.  I would be interested to know how it would work though. Almost everything needs fuel to burn as energy to make it move. Seems a little to far fetched for me. If it is possible, why has no one else thought of it?

  5. first of all, you would have to be a little more specific.

if i have to pump my car up with air every 5 miles, then no it would not be a good invention.

if somehow you have figured out how to make energy out of air(which is possible through decay of O3) without greater energy input then it produces, then yes...its a great idea!

  6. If only it were possible but it needs some kind of accual food source to be able to sustain and drive. Kinda like a human. We can survive on air alone . . . we need food and water too. But hey, I guarantee if you really wanted to you would be able to do whatever it is that you want to do.

  7. Well, you have an idea, but do you have any idea how that would work?

I have an idea that would make this hamburger on the table the size of the pentegon, and solve world hunger. But I think that would probably violate the law of conservation of mass.

And i dunno. We breathe air. If we run out of that, we may be in trouble. If you mean run off carbon dioxide or something like that... very nice.

    More details, bud.

  8. Too late to be the inventor. The MDI MiniCat is a car being designed by a guy who designes Formula One car engines. It runs on and emits only air.

With a top speed of 110kph (68mph) and a range of about 200kms (125miles), it looks to be an entirely useable commuter, and more. In fact, once the initial model is on the market, there are plans for a hybrid version - a car that will use a small amount of fuel to generate the compressed air required for the main engine - resulting in a 4,500km range (2,800 miles) from just one tank of fuel!

Because there is no ‘combustion’, the engine temperature remains tepid. This fact means the engine parts can be produced from metals with lower melting points, like aluminium - allowing for smaller lighter engines (about half the weight of a regular petrol engine) which increases the vehicle’s range.

The manufacturer, MDI (Motor Development International), lists some other interesting facts on their website:

    - Refilling the car will, once the market develops, take place at adapted petrol stations to administer compressed air. In 2 or 3 minutes, and at a cost of approximately 1.5 Euros, the car will be ready to go another 200-300 kilometres

    - As a viable alternative, the car carries a small compressor which can be connected to the mains (220V or 380V) and refill the tank in 3-4 hours

    - Due to the absence of combustion and, consequently, of residues, changing the oil (1 litre of vegetable oil) is necessary only every 50,000 Km

    - The temperature of the clean air expelled by the exhaust pipe is between 0 - 15 degrees below zero, which makes it suitable for use by the internal air conditioning system with no need for gases or loss of power.

That’s certainly one way of offsetting the CO2 emissions from years of working with racing cars!

  9. its a good idea but how would it work

i like that you want to create something that wont pollute and is good for the environment. it would be cool if someone could create something like that.

  10. Is this an invention, or a flight of fancy?  I mean, do you have a prototype, or a drawing or even a two sentence description of how it works to qualify as an invention, or is this just a "wouldn't it be nice" sort of idea?

On the surface, it would appear the only thing standing in the way of your invention and reality are the laws of physics.

  11. Air cars are already being built youre too slow.

  12. How would that work? and what would happen when all the air got sucked up by the vehicles?

It could be a good idea, you never know, but you just need to do more research and planning.

  13. Yeah I have heard of cars that run on comressed air. Never heard of one being able to go that far, 3000 miles w/o a recharge. If it does, the guys at CalTech would be slammed.

  14. AIR???

First of all, how would that work?

Second, these people are raising Cain about a lack of good clean air and you want to use it as fuel and burn it all up.

    Time to rethink this invention.

  15. Sounds good to me. Does it also run on the band Air?

  16. Sounds good to me. Let me know when you get it done so I can buy one.
