so i want to buy a male hamster, but i really like to name him Bella! i know it sounds so girly but i really like that name! should i buy a male and then tell people that its a female?!!!

i want a male because i heard that females are more stinky and aggressive, and also not as much friendly as a male hamster is! but they are more active

i also have some more names:

Misty

Midnight

Elmo

Tinkerbell

but i still say, i like Bella more!!!

thank you!

  1. i think - its your hamster so u may call it whatever name u like for him.he will not mind.i also think Bella is a cute name.if u like u can call him Bello.

  2. dont tell everyone its a girl! instead think of a name that u like just as much, but one that fits a male.

  3. Females aren't necessarily meaner, i've had males that were horrible and females that were sweet! It all depends on the hamster, maybe if you want a hamster named Bella and want it to be a girl you can go to the pet store and play with the girls, chances are one will be sweet and adorable! :)

But, hey, if you want a male named bella, go for it! :P

  4. If you would ask me, I kinda like Misty and Midnight. It's more neutral kind of giving the feeling that the hamster has no gender. If you ask me, I actually think that the name shouldn't be related to the gender. If you want to name him Bella, its up to you. Your hamster, your rules. We're just here to suggest :]

  5. i have a male hamster he is 6 months old and i can proudly say he has NEVER bitten me yet...... he is such a sweetheart and has so much personality !

I have called him Simon and he really suits his name, i like Elmo too but if you think your lil boy suites Bella then call him it, he won't mind as long as you love him lots.

In all honesty though Simon STINKS !!!!!!! he wees in his bed and he has another little house thingy inbuilt in the cage and he wees in there too, i wouldn't like to say about females smelling more but if they do, your house will smell haha. All my hamsters (i have been so lucky) have never been nasty though but i have always had males, so there could be some truth in it.

Good luck with your new little man he will bring you hours of fun x

  6. It's true that the males are usually friendlier and have less odour, but I have a female hamster who has never bitten, and does not have much smell. Though I would definatly reccomend a male, if you find a female you like, get her. I wouldn't buy a male and say he's a girl.

As for the name, if you want a boy named Bella, go ahead! The choice all comes down to you. But, if you are looking for the male version of "Bella", it's "Bellagio", but you could call him "Bello" for short.

    Good luck!
