  1. No.  The main reason is that it's too big and it would not feel secure in there.  Another reason is that is does not provide enough darkness.  I am not sure if you are wanting to breed your bird or not?  If you add a nest box then they will want to nest.  There are birdy huts that you can get that are smaller than the one you are have shown.

    Here is a birdy hut:

But be warned that if you provide something for them to nest in that if you have a female she will lay eggs.  Egglaying is not a very good thing if you are not intending to breed them.  Parakeets are prone to eggbinding which can and will cause death.  Egglaying depletes the female of calcium.  I'm sure you have read up on all of this so I will stop preaching now.

  2. Hi,

No you need a wooden nest for birds as if they chew it then it could be a choking hazard, and so could kill your birds. Most petshops sell the wooden boxes.

  3. You could use that but they might rip it up.I would use a wooden nest box because it will last longer. But you could try that,i dont see why not!Hopen this helps you!

  4. I have one that I use for my Indian Ringnecks but not for nesting, just roosting (sleeping) and my Cockatiels love it as well for hanging out.

If you're not breeding your parakeets will love exploring this cube, but if you are looking for a place to allow them to breed this is not an option because 1) it's not sturdy enough to keep the eggs from rolling all over in the nest, 2) it's not private enough to give breeders a sense of security and 3) the fabric is harder to keep clean than the wood.

    Hope this helps.
