Is this a good place for a relaxing girls getaway trip?

My best friends and I are going to Punta Cana the 26th of January. We have read all the reviews, and are a little nervous. We want to relax, drink, and just have fun. Did anyone take one of the Bavaro tours or do anything spectacuar that we shouldn't pass up? Any and all opinions are greatly appreciated. We are staying at the Melia Caribe resort.
