It's a 2000 frame. Size is right though.

  1. I think the price is a bit high for an 8 year old bike. You can get a new aluminum framed, carbon fork bike with Ultegra components and good wheels for about $2K.

    HTH

  2. I agree with the other 2 answers. you can get the same bike at your lbs, new for the same or not much more money! plus, as the original owner you'll have a lifetime warranty on the frame!

  3. After 8 years, trickle-down technology has made mid-range bikes very competitive in price when compared with older bikes like this one.   I'm not sure what that bike sold for when new or what upgrades he's done to it, but it sounds like it's in great condition and a bike worth buying....if you don't mind the price.

I agree with the others.....you can probably get into a new bike for about the same money and benefit from a warranty and new parts.   If you really want this bike, see if you can talk him down a bit....if not, there are plenty of bikes on the market both new and used.

The only thing I would do to that bike is fix the big chainring.  58 tooth is huge!   LOL.   Maybe that was a typo.   Also, those Vector wheels weren't known for being the most durable things on the road.  Very pricey and best suited for time trials for those who have the money to swap wheelsets or replace them when they die.  A slightly heavier but more durable wheelset might work out better for you if you ride a lot or weigh over 160 pounds.

  4. Probably is a good bike - but expensive for something that old.  I'd buy new.  You'd get something comparable...
