day 1:Run 1 mile

day 3:Run 1 mile

day 4:rest

day 5:Run 1 mile

day 6:rest

day 7:run 1 mile

I'm trying to train for High School track(400 and 800 meter dash) but if I start doing this, will it increase my stamina and speed?(I'd increase the milage each week)

  1. If you can try taking just 1 or 2 days off a week.

Also remember to ice your legs after running. This will prevent you

from feeling too sore and tired.

    Good Luck :D

  2. You will not really increase your speed and i would start with running for 15 minutes.  I think 1 mile is too low to start.  You do not really need to run much more than about 30 minutes as a high schooler.  At some point, you will need to start doing some faster stuff at race pace as well as some strength exercise and some drills to strengthen your core and abs.

  3. It will increase your stamina, but not so much speed. Do 4x100m striders (like sprints, but a little slower and go for form. Really pump your arms and pick up your knees) after each run. This will keep your speed up. When you get into your second month or so, add four 30 second pick ups (same as strides) to your run. Do that once every other week.
