I am being offered 9000 dirhams which is close 2500$ to my understanding. I am only 20 years old and I am a single person so I don't have the wife and kids expenditure. It is also worth mentioning that the offer is from a really big and professional company. what do you think?

  1. It clearly depends on the type of job/responsibilities you have been offered...but at a glance it looks low or -at least- uncompleted.

    A few comments:

    a) Is the salary gross or net? It shall be net, since you cannot control local taxation.

    b) Housing is expensive and hard to find in Dubai. Try to get living-in expenses covered by the company. Please check as well who pays for your relocation (sending your belongings to Dubai)

    c) Medical Insurance. Shall be covered by the company hiring you. Private treatment/hospitals are extremely expensive

    d) Visas and working permit: I guess they will be handled (and cost absorbed) by the hiring company. Please check.

    e) Term of the contract. For how long?

    f) Annual Leave: Usually, ex-pats contracts include -at least- one return ticket to your country of origin, for holiday break.

    g) Tickets in/out: At time of hiring/joining the company and termination of the contract, the company shall pay your air tickets in/out.

    Hope above helps

    Cheers

  3. Hi,

To be honest if this is your first time consider these -

    1. Housing is really expensive in Dubai - Rent for a Studio (Room which includes a small kitchen and a small bathroom), could cost around AED 50,000 annually that is if they allow bachelors in that area.

    2. Public Transport is very poor. You have luxury sedan's which cost alot, places are not close by and road tolls are expensive too.

    3. Daily meals are a major concern (Hope you know how to cook, only that can save you)

    4. Check with your company about transport. It would take you a good 2-3 months to get a license. If you're from the west you would still need to apply (even if you have an international license). Asian expats (You're license is not accredited here).

I hope i'm as close to reality telling you this. I'm not ridiculing this country, just stating the facts. I have been here since the past 4 years.

  4. That it is more than acceptable, compare it to what you pay for your flat etc, and than you see what you have left to save/spend.

If you want to compare with other jobs have a look at :
