  1. get a hutch for it, a giant, good size hutch that can go OVER your table instead of on it.

  2. A 1 by 3 is not big enough. The min. is 2 by 3.

  3. It's really not wide enough to have a side of the cage just be one grid in length. It's really narrow, and 1x3 isn't going to meet the 7.5 square feet requirements for a properly sized guinea pig cage. 2x3 is really the smallest you can go.

  4. here is a guide for cage sizes from the cavy compendium...http://www.cavycompendium.com/forums/art...

  5. A 1x3 is definitely too small.  If a 2x3 wouldn't fit on your table then you could build a base for it out of additional cubes.  You would likely need another box of cubes, but explain to your mom it would still be way cheaper than a regular cage.  Plus, you'll have room to store hay and food under the cage.

I was thinking of something like this:

  6. a guinea pig cage should be at least14 by 24 inches the bigger the better though

  7. The bigger the cage, the happier the piggie. I have two 2 by 5 cages, one per guinea pig. If you're gonna get a new cage, you might as well stretch the budget and get a huge cage.
