I have sensitive skin and minor/mild (in short, its not that bad) acne. Clinique is a little harsh on my skin so I was wondering if any of these products are bad?

Cleanser: Noxzema Original (my mother swears by it and she has flawless skin)

Toner: Neutrogena Dual Action Toner (its in a blue bottle)

Treatment: Gueen Helene Mint Mask

Moisturizer: Olay Complete Spf 15

If you know anything about any or all of these products please post! Thank you so much!

  1. Look for products and lines that are made for sensitive skin. Flare ups (ie acne) can happen if your skin gets irritated. Basically, stick with a certain line, such as for me I stick with a tea tree oil line by The Body Shop which helps my oily acne prone skin, and it's also sensitive. You have to just look at labels, read what they are meant to do and for what skin type. Then if a line does work to not irritate your skin but the few acne spots aren't really going away, then get something that is designed for acne prone skin that also is better for sensitive skin.

Basically, someone with your EXACT skin problems can have perfect results with one product and you can have a very bad reaction to the same thing. Doesn't matter if someone else with your exact problems likes the product, you have to try first then see how it works out. It takes a good month, 3 weeks if you want to buy something and test it then return if it doesn't work well, for your skin to fully react to the products.

  2. whatever skin care routine u have, keep it to one product line,

u should have : a gentle cleanser to use twice daily

    - alight moisturizer with spf (atleast 15) to use everytime u wash ur face

    - toner is optional but if ur going to use one.. make sure its alcohol free becuase of ur senstive skin ( another alternative is rose water, its natural and great!! or just splash ur face with cold water after u wash it that also tightens pores!!) -and make sure to not use toner around the eye area (unless its cold water)

    - a scrub to use twice a week

-and a weekly mask depending on ur current conditon ( clay for oily and blemished skin, a moisturizing one for dry, so on so on)

    - pick an effective spot treatment ( like the tea tree oil blemish stick from body shop)

    best answer?? ; )

and if not, hope i helped

  3. noxzema is the best. instead of that toner, try burt's bees tomato toner (sounds weird, but its gentle and really nice). never tried that mask, but i just make an aspirin mask by taking 4 uncoated tablets and putting a few drops of water on top of them. when they break down, i mix in some honey and put on my face. it's a really fine and gentle exfoliant and it also gets rid of bacteria gently. it's really nice because it IS a mask, but when it washes off, it exfoliates. don't use a mask more than once a week though. for the moisturizer, i do like that olay complete, but i know a way better one. try the aveda sensitive moisturizer because it is a total miracle worker, though a bit expensive. it's all worth it.

  4. The neutrogena toner is my life saver! I would highly recomend it! Just make sure you are consistent in your uses.

Also, it reduces the intensity of the toner if you apply with a cusioned cotton pad (available at Walgreens).

    Good Luck!!

  5. Just try some Dove face wash and get the moisturizer also. This is very gentle but it works so good!
