Is this a good story idea?

This is just a brief thought. It came to me while playing Battlefield bad company:

I'm not sure how the story starts but it turns out that a 17 year old, (his character is charismatic, sometimes cold, but pretty much knows how everything works, and is suave.)

is returning to his hometown for senior year in high school only to discover that everything has changed.

The tone of this story is light comedy, dark drama.

I usually write action/thrillers/suspense, but does this seem like a good idea?

It seems like a good idea. And for those of you saying "as long as no werewolves or vampires are involved, then yes", just stop bashing the book. You're not making SM any less rich, or the books less famous. If you don't like it, fine. But you don't have to continue bashing it.

Well, i dont know exactly how things ahve changed, but if it has something to do with vampires or werewolves, then no, its a bad idea.

EDIT:

I'm not bashing. I'm just saying theres an overload in the genre right now, actually getting a vampire book published now would be next to impossible.

Awwe, it does. I love high school stories, but it sounds like a mix between the show October Road and the movie In The Land Of Women.

With a few more twists & a thicker plot it could be amazing. Good luck & I'd love to know if and when you actually write it.
