Is this a good tank setup?

I have a 10 gallon tank with 4 mollies (2 lyretails, 1 dalmation, and 1 common) a dwarf gourami, and 3 cories (2 spotted, and 1 green). Will these fish be okay together? Do I have too many fish? Do lyretails need extra care? Do they get big? Do green cories need extra car? Do they get as big as spotted.

  1. Yes that is fine don't forget to add some sea salt for your mollies. No that is not too many fish and no lyre tails don't get that big, biggest is around 3 inches that's in a much larger tank though. No extra care is needed  just be sure to feed for them all and you should be fine.

  2. your tank is way over stocked but if you decide to invest in a larger tank the tank would work well and look great

  3. Mollies can get to be 6 inches long and should have some salt in the water. Yes you do not see too many 6 inch mollies but then not too many people keep their mollies in the right environment in the right conditions. They should have at least a 30 gallon tank with vegetable based foods. The corydoras catfish do not like salt in the water so they are not great tank mates. The dwarf gourami "can" live in a smaller tank but would be happier and healthier in at least a ten gallon tank. This is providing that you do plenty of partial water changes. Discus breeders often do 100% daily water changes to keep their fish growing well and keep them healthy. By keeping fish in too small a tank it is like keeping people in too small a house without a toilet and no way of getting the pollution out of the house. If you think of it this way where the way to "flush the toilet" is to do a water change then you will get the idea.

  4. dwarf gouramis do not need a 30 gallon tank! They need a 5 gallon as a minimum! I keep mine in a 6 gallon with african dwarf frogs! Yes it is a little overstocked, but yes you can keep those fish in there if you keep up with watch changes and watch the water quality.

  5. Sounds good to me...

    keep it up

  6. Didn't you already ask this?

No matter how many times you ask, the answer will be - you are way over stocked and have species that don't belong in a 10g tank.  Your mollies should be in a 30.  Your corries will be unhappy because they like to be in larger groups, which you can't do in a 10g.  Your grourami should be in a 30+.

Again, answer to that won't change no matter how many times you ask the question.
