Question:

Is this a good tank size for a crested gecko?

he's about 6 or 8 months old. he lives in a 12X12X18 tank, he has plenty of room, could this last him for his life?

  1. Crested Geckos need more height than opposed to length, therefore a 20 Gallon tall Aquarium would be more appropriate. They are an arboreal species who spend most of their time in trees in the rainforests of New Caledonia. They often do not require additional heating sources  as a previous poster implied (room temperature is often within the appropriate parameters).


  2. It sounds like you have him in a 10 gallon, which is fine for his age and size at this time.  It is recommended that he be in a 20g long at least. This is mainly because in smaller tanks it is hard to have a hot side and a cool side due to the small over all size. Plus they can get over 8 inches.

  3. they need a 20gallon tall tank when there older. cresties maybe small but they need space to climb move about and hide in mines in an 18x18x24
