Is this a good vertical?

im about 5'9 and just tried out for club v-ball. is 20.3 inches a good vertical? if not, then what should it be and how can i improve it?

  1. I'm 5'6" and that 20.3 is a little less than what my vertical was in high school. It is good though. There's nothing wrong with wanting to improve though. Make or find wooden boxes that are about a foot and a half to two feet high. Two boxes is ideal. Space them out about 4 feet from each other and jump up with both feet, down in between the boxes, then onto the other one. When you get to the other side, turn around and do it again. Do several reps of this.

    Also, find a weight vest and ankle weights. Do all of your jump exercises and hitting drills with these on.


  2. nahh try getting to a 24 inch vertical but at your height its okay... but it could be better.

    Jumping lunges work great

    Squats are also good too

    toe ups (stand on tippy toes and back down then on tippy toes then down again)

    use a straight line.. and jump back to front on it or side to side.. kind of like those ski jumps

    make sure you do these fast because these types of excercises will work on those small muscles, i think theyre called twitch muscles.. not sure. But those muscles allow you to move and react quicker and jump higher too... so less time on the ground more time in the air.
